The first official day of Spring is just around the corner, and we can’t wait for everything that comes along with it; lighter evenings, flowers in bloom, sunshine (hopefully!) and new seasonal interior trends! The word ‘trend’ itself can seem intimidating and impractical, as it suggests that a product will become dated and therefore unwanted, however, at The Sewing House, we choose our fabrics with longevity and versatility in mind. This means that, though we ensure that all of the designs on our website are popular and current, we also choose designers that are guaranteed to make classic, multifaceted collections, combining style with practicality. That being said, we have compiled a list below of some Spring/Summer trends that we are really looking forward to seeing this year!

Organic Textures & Natural Materials

As sustainability is becoming more of a conscious decision for a lot of us, it will come as no surprise that organic and natural influences in the home are dominating this year’s homeware trend forecast. When people hear the word sustainability, they often worry that this will equate to a big price tag, though this isn’t the only way to begin moving towards sustainable interior! Designing with an organic style in mind means opting for neutral or muted colours, minimal decoration and simple materials, all things that assure the longevity of your purchase. Shopping in neutral, colours, such as beige, taupe, grey, cream, brown, black, and white means that you will easily be able to restyle your products if needed, instead of having to buy a new product were you to redecorate.

Pastel Tones

Pastel tones are a timeless trend that has defied the decades, and always makes an appearance during this time of the year, so it’s no surprise that they have made our trend forecast for 2022! Pastel colours, including lemon, lilac, baby blue and baby pink can add a playfulness to your interior, whilst keeping things sophisticated and stylish with the muted tones. If you are unsure about going full-on pastel, accent pieces are the perfect way to incorporate soft suggestions of colour into your interior design, and this can be achieved by adding cushions, made-to-measure curtains, or accessories such as vases and candles to a neutral room, to give it a subtle, yet cheerful boost!

Blues

In 2021, the most popular interior design colours were pure white and rich brown, but in 2022, we’ve got the blues, and we’re not mad about it! In both interior and fashion, blue has been tipped off to be the colour of Spring/Summer, and it’s understandable, with such a wide spectrum to work with, there is bound to be something that appeals to everyone! From rich navy to sparkling sapphire, pairing a blue toned cushion or Roman blinds with wooden furnishings or industrial accessories is the perfect way to celebrate this versatile and on-trend colour in your home!

Retro/vintage/thrifted

Did someone say bold patterns, loud colours and interior thrifitng? Yes please! Retro interior is making a big comeback for Spring/Summer this year, with a huge focus on geometric prints, statement colours and recycled materials. Not only is this trend fun, nostalgic and versatile, it’s also sustainable too, as a lot of retro pieces reuse old fabrics and materials to create statement items for the home. At The Sewing House, we love bespoke, and whether you’re trying to recreate your favoruite retro peice, or have fallen in love with some thrifted fabric, we are more than happy to create the perfect product for you, exactly how you’d like it. Head over to the ‘Custom Fabric’ section on our website to learn more!
