‘Reduce, reuse and recycle’ is a phrase we all know too well! A quarter of England’s waste is produced by businesses – as a small business we are aware of the challenges we face in reducing our own carbon footprint and have engrained a company culture that is environmentally conscious.
At The Sewing House all our products are bespoke made to order and never made in bulk, meaning we never have unwanted products in old designs going to waste. Everything is made with quality and longevity in mind, ensuring you receive the perfect addition to your home that will last. You will also be happy to hear that our packaging is 100% recyclable!
As we make our products in house we keep any offcuts from your orders and turn them into fabric samples for your orders. At The Sewing House HQ all paper, plastic and cardboard is recycled!
We will continue to improve our working methods wherever possible whilst continuing to deliver the highest quality products to our customers!
Some simple ways you can help the environment at home or at work!
- Turn off devices on standby and chargers that are not in use.
- Take more walks, drive less & explore wildlife and nature along the way!
- Take shorter showers – did you know the average shower dispenses 12 liters of water a minute!
- Make sure you are recycling correctly, we can all be guilty of aspirational or wishcyclying – this is when we think we can recycle anything with paper or plastic in them for example. However this creates a huge waste management issue and can create more harm than good. Unfortunately, not everything is recyclable!
- Change your bulbs to LED’s these are 80% more efficient than standard CFL bulbs.
By choosing our bespoke made-to-measure curtains and blinds, you not only contribute to a more sustainable home but also support our commitment to reducing waste at The Sewing House, where every product is crafted with precision, longevity, and environmental consciousness in mind.
